Architectural Design for your project.
My roots lie in a humble town bordering Brazil and Bolivia.
As a multidisciplinary designer originally from the Bolivian Amazon, and having personally experienced the discomfort caused by high temperatures, humidity, and heat, I decided to explore possible solutions to these challenges as part of my research during my Master’s degree in Interior and Spatial Design at Camberwell, London.
My journey with clay began in 2021 at Westminster Adult Education Centre, where I was captivated by the transformative power of the material; my mind was blown by the possibilities it offered. From the beginning, I knew I wanted to create something beyond traditional vessels — I saw material and pottery techniques as a medium for innovation and environmental impact.
The main material I work with and explore is terracotta, chosen for its properties such as porosity, heat resistance, durability, and versatility. It is naturally sourced, sustainable, and affordable. Last summer, I worked in Bolivia, immersing myself in the rich experience of red clay and practicing wood-fired pottery.
The Mama’s Bricks project began as a personal response to the challenges of living in warm, humid environments and has evolved into a mission to use clay and the art of pottery as tools for improving buildings and people’s lives.
A journey that, has led me to fall in love with the art of making bricks.
